BOSTON, MA — Anfernee Simons remains a member of the Boston Celtics despite persistent trade rumors since his acquisition five months ago. NBA insider Michael Scotto reported that discussions occurred over the summer with the Brooklyn Nets but ultimately did not lead to a trade. The Milwaukee Bucks also showed interest in Simons.

Simons has played in all 17 games this season, coming off the bench. He is averaging 14.4 points, 2.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds, while logging 24.9 minutes per game. Although these numbers are his lowest in five years, his shooting percentage has improved, with a career-best 44.8% from the field and 41.1% from three-point range.

Trade conversations continue to surround Simons, largely due to his expiring contract worth $27.68 million. Sources indicate the Celtics are not under pressure to lower their luxury tax bill but are open to a favorable deal. They could minimize their tax burden by either trading Simons or dealing players like Sam Hauser.

Currently, the team does not plan to attach a first-round pick to Simons’ deal in any trade negotiations, making a trade less likely. Despite the swirling rumors, Simons has managed to maintain his on-court performance without any apparent impact from the speculation.
