Celtics Vs 76ers February 2025 Game Highlights

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Boston Celtics showcased their dominance Thursday night with a 124-104 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center. The win marks their eighth victory in their last nine games, reinforcing their position as a top contender in the NBA.

Payton Pritchard led the Celtics with a game-high 28 points, sinking eight 3-pointers. Jayson Tatum contributed significantly to the win, achieving his fourth career triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. The Celtics improved to a robust 40-16 record for the season.

The Celtics raced out to an early lead, scoring 75 points in the first half while shooting commendably from beyond the arc, hitting 15 of 25 3-pointers. This resulted in a comfortable advantage of 26 points by the end of the third quarter, leaving the 76ers struggling to keep pace.

“We just came out strong and wanted to set the tone early,” Pritchard said after the game. “We knew they were going to come out hard, but we played together and executed our game plan.”

The 76ers, on the other hand, faced challenges as their season continues to unravel. Joel Embiid managed to score just 15 points while shooting 3-of-9 from the field in 27 minutes. With this defeat, the 76ers have now lost six straight games, dropping to 20-35 for the season, marking their lowest point in the standings.

“We need to regroup and figure this out,” said 76ers coach Doc Rivers. “The energy and execution have to improve if we want to turn this around.”

The Sixers had a brief glimpse of competitiveness, winning their previous matchup against the Celtics on February 2, where they staged a comeback. However, their performance in this contest fell flat as they trailed by as much as 29 points.

A pivotal moment occurred in the second quarter when Boston’s reserves orchestrated a 15-6 run, establishing a 16-point lead. Pritchard and his teammate, Luke Kornet, led that surge, each adding critical points.

As the game progressed, the Celtics maintained control, partially due to their excellent shooting from 3-point range, finishing the night with a formidable 44.4% efficiency from beyond the arc.

The Celtics are set to host the New York Knicks this Sunday, looking to extend their winning streak. Meanwhile, the 76ers will prepare to face the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, hoping to turn their fortunes around.

“It’s a long season,” Pritchard added. “We just need to keep pushing and focus on the next game.”
