Celtics Gear Up for Playoffs After Strong Regular Season Finish

BOSTON, MA — The Boston Celtics wrapped up their regular season with a solid performance, securing the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference for the upcoming playoffs, which commence on April 19. On Friday, the Celtics faced the Charlotte Hornets in their final game, showcasing their preparation for the postseason.
Head Coach Joe Mazzulla confirmed that many starters would likely rest in the final game, as the team has already set its sights on their first-round opponents, the winner of Tuesday’s Atlanta-Orlando play-in game. Mazzulla expressed confidence in the team’s current physical condition compared to last year, specifically noting Kristaps Porzingis‘s health and Jaylen Brown‘s recovery from knee issues.
The Celtics have achieved 60 wins for the second consecutive season, marking their first such achievement since 2008-2009. This accomplishment has solidified their status as defending champions, a title they will aim to retain amid increased scrutiny.
“It’s been a lot of fun, honestly,” said forward Jayson Tatum. “We have such a joy and connection with each other. It was some tough moments, but everybody has felt valued. We know what we bring to this team.”
Despite the successes, the season was not without its challenges, including a rocky January and injuries to key players. Nevertheless, the Celtics bounced back and finished the regular season strong, achieving a remarkable 28-6 record since January.
As the playoffs approach, the pressure will be on. The Celtics have been praised for their unity and effort, with players moving beyond individual accolades to focus on team success. Tatum leads the team with an average of 27 points, 8.7 rebounds, and a career-high six assists per game.
In preparation for the playoffs, the Celtics have emphasized maintaining high performance and learning from past setbacks. Their 33-8 record on the road stands as a testament to their resilience, tying them with the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls for one of the best in league history.
Brown’s knee injury remains a point of concern, as he will need to manage his health closely leading into the playoffs. However, both he and Mazzulla remain optimistic about his performance once the postseason begins.
The team remains focused, knowing the road ahead will be challenging as they pursue another championship title. With each player’s contribution and the support of fans, the Celtics are geared up for what promises to be a competitive playoff run.
