BOSTON — Josh Minott recorded 11 points and a career-high 14 rebounds during the Boston Celtics‘ 125-105 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night. This win marked the Celtics’ second consecutive victory and their first home win of the season.

Minott, who started for the second time in his career, reflected on the emotional impact of walking through the Celtics’ tunnel after the game. “I can’t even explain it, man,” he said, expressing gratitude towards God, the fans, and his teammates. “It’s just a blessing to be here, truthfully.”

Alongside his scoring, Minott contributed three steals and a block, showcasing his defensive prowess. His presence on the court helped energize the Celtics, particularly as they adapt to life without star forward Jayson Tatum, who is sidelined indefinitely.

“Just do my best to defend the other team’s best player and rebound,” Minott explained. “After that, they see everything as a plus. I’m just trying to hone in on what they expect out of me.”

In Minott’s brief career thus far, he has struggled to find consistent playing time. However, his recent performances suggest he is beginning to solidify a role with the team. Coach Joe Mazzulla noted, “He’s done a good job. Just has an understanding of what the standard is.”

Jaylen Brown, who led the Celtics with 30 points on Wednesday, praised Minott’s contributions to the team’s success. “We just got to keep building on it,” Brown said. “Tonight was an excellent game for him.”

Despite facing an underwhelming start to the season, Minott and his teammates remain optimistic. “We understood that it’s been a change for a lot of people on the team,” Minott remarked, emphasizing the positive atmosphere in the locker room.

The Celtics are now looking to build on their momentum as they prepare for upcoming games, remaining focused on improving their overall performance.
