Chad Patrick Leads Brewers to Victory in First Career Win

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Chad Patrick silenced doubts surrounding the Milwaukee Brewers’ rocky start, earning his first career victory in an 8-2 win against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. With a revitalized team effort, the Brewers improved their record to .500 after a dismal 0-4 beginning to the season.
Patrick, a 26-year-old right-hander, showcased his skill on the mound during his second career start, delivering an impressive 5 ⅓ innings. His only setback came when Reds outfielder Spencer Steer hit a solo home run to open the fifth inning. Patrick limited the Reds to just two hits and struck out three batters, allowing him to secure the win.
The Brewers’ resurgence can be partly attributed to Patrick, who unexpectedly joined the starting rotation due to injuries affecting key players. “When I got the call, I was just focused on doing my job and helping the team,” said Patrick after the game. “I wasn’t expecting to be in this position, but I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
On the offensive side, Jackson Chourio was instrumental, hitting two home runs and driving in five runs, marking his second career multi-homer game. Chourio’s big day at the plate included a three-run blast in the fourth inning that pushed the Brewers’ lead to 7-0, following a previous infield push that generated two runs. “Seeing the ball well today made all the difference,” Chourio remarked. “It’s a great feeling to contribute to the team’s success.”
The Brewers utilized small-ball tactics to manufacture runs early in the game. After a single from Oliver Dunn and a double by Brice Turang, Chourio lifted a two-strike sacrifice fly to right, scoring Dunn. Christian Yelich then added a hard-hit single to extend the lead to 2-0.
This victory came during a stretch of solid performances, as the Brewers capped a homestand with five wins in their last six games. The team now appears poised to build momentum after navigating early-season struggles. The Brewers’ next matchup will come following an off day Monday.
