Challenging Mountain Stage Ahead in Critérium du Dauphiné 2025

GRAND-AIGUEBLANCHE, France — Cyclists face a grueling challenge this Saturday, June 14, during the 7th stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné. The course, which stretches from Grand-Aigueblanche to Valmeinier 1800, includes three demanding hors catégorie climbs.
The peloton will begin their ascent from the Aigueblanche valley, tackling the col de la Madeleine first. After descending into the Maurienne valley, they will take on the col du Glandon and the col de la Croix de Fer. This stage is set to cover a total distance of 132.1 kilometers with nearly 4,000 meters of elevation gain, providing a formidable test for all riders.
Key climbs include the col de la Madeleine, extending 24.6 kilometers at an average gradient of 6.2%, and the col de la Croix de Fer, which is approached via the col du Glandon and spans 22.4 kilometers at an average gradient of 6.9%. The final ascent to Valmeinier will be equally challenging, measuring 16.5 kilometers at a 6.7% incline.
The race is scheduled to start at 12:10 PM local time, with the col de la Madeleine expected to be crossed around 1:14 PM. The col de la Croix de Fer will be approached between 2:30 PM and 2:55 PM. Riders are projected to reach Valmeinier between 4:07 PM and 4:49 PM, according to event organizers.
As the stage approaches, local authorities will progressively close roads leading to the race route to ensure the safety of both cyclists and spectators. This anticipated stage promises to deliver a spectacular and exciting display of endurance and skill from the riders.
