Barcelona, Spain – Four teams remain in the UEFA Women's Champions League, vying for the prestigious title. Reigning champions FC Barcelona are set to defend their crown against Chelsea, who are eager to claim their first victory in this elite competition. Meanwhile, the tournament’s most successful team, Lyon, will face Arsenal, the only English club to have lifted the trophy.

The upcoming semi-final round features a two-legged match between Arsenal and Lyon, marking the latest chapter in their intense rivalry. This will be the eighth and ninth meetings between the two sides, with Lyon boasting a dominant head-to-head record. Arsenal’s sole victory came during their illustrious 2007 season when they achieved a memorable treble. After an absence from the tournament from 2015 to 2019, Arsenal is making a strong comeback, seeking their second final appearance.

“Reaching the semi-finals again reflects our progress and determination to return to the top,” Arsenal’s coach stated. “We understand the challenge that Lyon presents, but we are ready to fight for our place in the final.”

Lyon, on the other hand, holds the title for the most Champions League wins, with eight championships. Their last victory came in the 2021-22 season, and a triumph over Arsenal would mark their 11th journey to the final. The competitive spirit is high, with the two clubs having faced each other at the semi-final stage for three consecutive years now.

“We respect Arsenal and their history, but we believe in our strength as well,” said Lyon’s coach. “This is an opportunity to add another chapter to our legacy in European football.”

FC Barcelona has emerged as a formidable force in European women’s football, having won the last two editions of the Champions League. The Catalan giants first reached the UWCL final in 2019, though they suffered a heavy defeat against Lyon. However, they learned from that experience and clinched the title following victories against Chelsea in 2021 and Lyon in 2022.

This year, they aim to create history by becoming the first team to win the tournament three times in a row. “We are focused on our goal of reaching the final again,” said a Barcelona player. “We respect Chelsea as a competitor, but our eyes are set on lifting the trophy once more.”

Chelsea, who remain unbeaten in the Women’s Super League, have already lifted the English League Cup and are set to face Manchester United in the FA Cup final next month. Their ambition to secure the elusive Champions League title is at the forefront of their campaign.

“Winning the Champions League has always been our dream,” said new manager Sonia Bompastor. “It’s a challenge we are excited to take on, and we’re ready to compete with the best.”

The first leg of the semi-finals will kick off on April 19 and 20, with the second leg scheduled for April 27. The final will take place in Lisbon in May. Fans can catch all the action through DAZN or TNT Sports, ensuring they don’t miss any of the thrilling matches ahead.
