Trikweze Bridges Nfl Draft Selection

Los Angeles, CA — The Los Angeles Chargers selected cornerback Trikweze Bridges from the University of Florida as the 256th pick in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday. Bridges, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 196 pounds, brings a blend of size and skill to the Chargers’ secondary.

Dane Brugler from The Athletic noted that Bridges possesses the versatility to compete against larger receivers, and his impressive athletic testing has positioned him for an opportunity in NFL training camps. Bridges, 24, is expected to contend for a spot on the roster primarily as a special teams player.

Before joining the Gators, Bridges played four seasons at the University of Oregon, starting 17 games and making a significant impact. In 2024, while at Florida, he played in all 13 games, starting seven in both cornerback and safety positions. His performance included notable statistics: 70 tackles, two interceptions, six pass breakups, a tackle for loss, and two forced fumbles.

Bridges goes into a competitive cornerback room that includes established players like Donte Jackson, Tarheeb Still, and Cam Hart. Despite the competition, his combination of physical attributes and performance at Florida could help him secure a roster spot. He demonstrated his capability running a 4.45-second 40-yard dash during Florida’s pro day.

Overall, the Chargers’ decision to select Bridges adds depth and youth to their defensive lineup as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season.
