Chargers Sign Reagor and Extend Dye as Free Agency Opens

LOS ANGELES, March 12, 2025 — The Los Angeles Chargers bolstered their roster Wednesday by re-signing wide receiver Jalen Reagor and extending the contract of linebacker Troy Dye, as the NFL’s free agency period officially begins.
Reagor, 26, rejoined the Chargers after initially signing with the practice squad last September. He was elevated to the 53-man roster in November, where he played in eight games, notching seven receptions for 100 yards and contributing on special teams with a 22-yard kickoff return. The terms of his new deal were not disclosed.
A former first-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2020 draft, Reagor has accumulated 86 receptions for 1,037 yards and four touchdowns over his career, playing for the Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, and Chargers.
“We are excited to bring Jalen back to the team,” said Chargers General Manager Joe Hortiz. “He’s shown his capacity to make plays on the field and contribute in various ways.”
In addition to Reagor, the Chargers announced a two-year contract extension with Dye worth $5.5 million, potentially rising to $8.5 million with incentives. Dye, who joined the Chargers last season on a one-year deal, has emerged as a key figure on defense.
During the 2024 season, Dye recorded a career-high 57 tackles and contributed significantly on special teams, leading the team with 368 snaps in that area. He made five starts due to injuries at the linebacker position, showing his versatility and reliability.
“Troy has developed into a valuable asset on our defense and special teams,” Hortiz added. “His resilience and ability to step up when needed make him an important part of our plans moving forward.”
Going into the 2025 season, the Chargers will look to enhance their depth on both offense and defense, particularly at the linebacker position where Dye will be expected to compete for a starting role alongside Daiyan Henley.
The Chargers kick off their free agency efforts as they aim to improve on their previous season, building a well-rounded roster that can compete in the highly competitive AFC.
