Charlotte Hornets Center Mark Williams Questionable for Friday’s Game

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mark Williams, center for the Charlotte Hornets, has been downgraded to questionable for Friday’s matchup against the Sacramento Kings due to muscle spasms in his back. The Hornets announced the change in Williams’ status this afternoon via their official Twitter account.
Initially listed as probable for the game, Williams’ recent back issues have raised concerns about his availability. If he is not able to play, Hornets coach Steve Clifford may lean more heavily on Jusuf Nurkic and Moussa Diabate to fill the gap in the lineup.
In his last 11 games, Williams has been a consistent performer, logging double-doubles in nine of those contests while averaging 15.2 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game. The Hornets have relied on his inside presence more than ever as the team deals with injuries to other key players, including those out for the season.
Williams’ impact on the court has been specifically notable with other frontline players sidelined. Without them, his contributions in both scoring and defense have proven crucial for the team’s success. “Mark has stepped up significantly for us, especially with our limited roster,” said Clifford. “His ability to control the paint on both ends of the floor has been essential.”
As Williams continues to manage his back spasms, the Hornets will monitor his progress closely leading up to game time on Friday. The team’s current push for playoff positioning puts additional importance on having their best players available for every game.
