Chauncey Billups Honored in Detroit During Lions-Vikings Game
Detroit Pistons legend Chauncey Billups received a standing ovation Sunday night during the Detroit Lions‘ Week 18 game against the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field. The recognition came at the 1:43 mark of the first quarter after Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs scored a 25-yard rushing touchdown, energizing the home crowd.
Billups, who is currently in his fourth season as head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, was making his first public appearance in Detroit since his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023. The Lions’ fans gave him a warm welcome, but the main celebration of his legacy will take place Monday night at Little Caesars Arena during the Pistons’ home game against the Trail Blazers.
