Chelsea Green Discusses Rematch Hopes with Penta After WWE Signing

TORONTO, Canada — Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green addressed the buzz surrounding a potential rematch with Penta El Zero Miedo, formerly known as Pentagon Dark, following his recent signing with WWE. In a recent interview, Green reflected on their acclaimed 2018 match during Lucha Underground‘s Season 4, highlighting its newfound popularity.
“I did not realize that that would [gain traction],” Green admitted. “I mean, it got some traction when it first aired, but not the way it has now. Oh my goodness, it’s crazy to see how much steam it has picked up in the past couple of years.”
Green recounted an encounter with Penta backstage at a WWE event in Toronto, where they jokingly discussed a potential sequel to their iconic bout. “We ran into each other in the hall, and he was like, ‘You and me, rematch?’ I’m like, I don’t think so, pal. I think we’re good. We did our one match, and everyone loves it, let’s not,” she said.
Reflecting on her tenure with Lucha Underground, Green expressed nostalgia for her experience, especially her debut in a memorable match. “I was hired at the end of the season. I came in, I killed Sexy Starr off, and then I teamed up with Marty and me and Penta had this crazy match. That’s what dreams are made of,” she said.
Green also shared a memorable moment with fellow wrestler John Morrison, who praised her performance. “I’ll never forget John Morrison being like, ‘Chelsea, I’ve never seen you wrestle like that, ever. I’ve already texted Matt and told him how incredible that was,’” she recalled.
As rumors swirl about the possibility of recreating their Lucha Underground match on a WWE platform, Green remains resolute that it was a one-time event. Reports suggest that plans were considered for Green to host an upcoming event or issue an open challenge for her Women’s United States title, with potential challengers including Alexa Bliss and Hall of Famer Nikki Bella.
While Green’s absence from WrestleMania 41 has been confirmed, speculation continues regarding her potential involvement. Green, who became the first-ever Women’s United States Champion by defeating Michin in late 2024, had initially been slated for a six-woman tag match on the final SmackDown before WrestleMania. However, that match is no longer being advertised.
According to reports from Sean Ross Sapp, while Green is not currently scheduled to be part of WrestleMania, pitches have been made for her inclusion. There remains a chance that plans could evolve before the event, with fans hoping for a special entrance if she makes the card.
