Chelsea Legend Brian Pullman Retires After 56 Years of Dedicated Service
After a remarkable 56 years of unwavering service to the esteemed Chelsea Football Club, the iconic Brian Pullman bids farewell today as he concludes his role as the Chelsea press steward, marking the end of an era for both him and the club.
Known to the global media as the welcoming face of Chelsea, Brian’s journey with the club began in 1948 as a young schoolboy attending his first game. He transitioned into stewardship twenty years later and on 14 August 1968, he officially commenced his duties during a 1-1 game against Nottingham Forest, a stepping stone to his longstanding tenure.
A cherished figure at Stamford Bridge, Brian has been instrumental in facilitating press activities, overseeing press conferences at Cobham and ensuring a smooth experience for media personnel covering Chelsea matches, a role he has impeccably fulfilled for over five decades.
Prior to the recent clash with Bournemouth, Brian was honored by Chelsea head coach, Pochettino, who presented him with a gift on behalf of the club, symbolizing gratitude for his dedicated service. Additionally, a plaque was unveiled in the press room, commemorating Brian’s unparalleled commitment to the club.
Recognizing his invaluable contribution, the current press cohort also organized a heartfelt gesture for Brian during Pochettino’s final pre-match press conference, expressing their appreciation through gifts and a touching tribute from Andy Dillon, the esteemed football reporter from The Sun.
