Chelsea Pursue Atlético Madrid’s Omorodion as Alternative to Aston Villa’s Durán
Chelsea Football Club is actively exploring new striker options with talks now underway with Atlético Madrid regarding the potential signing of Samu Omorodion as an alternative to Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán.
Omorodion, a talented 20-year-old forward who impressed during his loan spell at Alavés, has captured Chelsea’s interest due to his promising performances, having netted nine goals in 35 appearances last season.
While Chelsea have been granted permission to engage in discussions with Durán, who comes with a price tag of £40m, the club is reportedly deliberating on whether to advance negotiations due to concerns over the player’s wage demands and attitude.
The London club, in their pursuit for striking options, is also considering options apart from Durán, with Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke viewed as out of their financial reach and their top target, Benjamin Sesko, opting to remain at RB Leipzig.
Enzo Maresca, Chelsea’s newly appointed head coach, is keen on bolstering the squad with attacking reinforcements to complement the promising Nicolas Jackson, who impressed in his debut season but shoulders a heavy burden if he remains the sole senior striker.
Additionally, Chelsea is faced with decisions regarding the futures of loanee David Datro Fofana and sought-after striker Armando Broja, who is a target for Everton.
Meanwhile, West Ham United are in talks over a potential move for Wolves‘ defensive stalwart, Max Kilman, with manager Julen Lopetegui eyeing the center-back for reinforcement, given their shared history at Molineux.
Kilman, the Wolves captain, is West Ham’s primary defensive target, with a speculated bid of £45m being sufficient to secure his services; however, Wolves are determined to retain the talented defender amidst interest from other clubs.
