Chelsea Set To Sign Striker Victor Osimhen As Napoli Star Makes Decision On Next Club

Chelsea Football Club is on the verge of securing the services of highly-rated striker Victor Osimhen, as the Nigerian international has reportedly made the decision to join Stamford Bridge this summer. Osimhen, currently playing for Napoli in Serie A, has been a subject of intense speculation recently, with top European clubs such as Manchester United, Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain all expressing interest in his services. However, journalist Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that Osimhen has chosen Chelsea as his next destination.

Osimhen’s impressive form at Napoli, which helped the club secure the Serie A title last season, has caught the attention of several top clubs. The 25-year-old striker has scored an impressive 67 goals in 119 appearances since his move from Lille in 2020. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with clubs across Europe vying for his signature.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis recently admitted that he knew Osimhen would be leaving the club at the end of the season. De Laurentiis disclosed that negotiations for a contract renewal had been extensive, indicating that Napoli was aware of Osimhen’s desire to seek new challenges. He mentioned potential destinations as Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, or an English team.

Osimhen himself confirmed that he had already made up his mind regarding his future. Speaking to CBS Sports, he stated that he has been in control of his career decisions from the start and knows what he wants to achieve. While he did not reveal the exact details, Osimhen hinted that an announcement regarding his next club is imminent after the conclusion of the current season.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Osimhen signals their determination to secure a reliable goal scorer. Despite their significant investment in transfers over the years, the Blues have struggled to find a consistent source of goals. While young talents like Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku show promise, Chelsea is keen to bring in a proven striker to fill the void.

Reports suggest that Chelsea is fully prepared to activate Osimhen’s release clause, which is believed to be around €130m (£111m). The Manchester Evening News recently reported that Manchester United and Arsenal were also monitoring the situation, while billionaire owner Jim Ratcliffe is looking to make a statement signing at Chelsea. In addition to Osimhen, Brentford‘s Ivan Toney is also on their radar.

Should Tavolieri’s claims about Osimhen’s preference for Chelsea be accurate, the transfer could materialize, especially considering recent reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport stating that Chelsea are ready to make a move for the striker. Osimhen’s arrival would greatly bolster Chelsea’s attacking options and address one of their long-standing concerns.
