Chelsea Vs Crystal Palace Women's Super League

For the first time since the start of the season, Chelsea Women will play an away match as they head to South London to compete against new Women's Super League (WSL) entrants, Crystal Palace. This encounter marks the first top-flight meeting between the Blues, who are seven-time champions, and the Eagles, who are making their debut.

Scheduled to take place at Selhurst Park on Friday, September 27, with a kick-off at 7:30 PM UK time, the match will be accessible via the official Chelsea website and through Chelsea Women’s social media channels. UK-based fans can tune in to live coverage provided by Sky Sports.

Under the helm of new head coach Sonia Bompastor, Chelsea began their WSL campaign with a narrow 1-0 win against Aston Villa at Kingsmeadow. This victory was preceded by a successful USA tour where they won against teams such as NJ/NY Gotham and Arsenal, culminating in a 9-0 victory over Dutch team Feyenoord.

Reflecting on their unbeaten run in the last four league games, which extends back to the final three matches of the previous season, Chelsea aims to maintain their momentum against Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace faced a challenging start to their WSL journey, suffering a 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. This marked their first league loss since mid-March, following an unbeaten streak of five games in the Championship, which clinched their promotion.

Though Chelsea and Crystal Palace have never met in the WSL, they did clash earlier this year in February during an FA Cup match at Kingsmeadow. A late goal secured Chelsea a 1-0 victory, propelling them into the semi-finals of the competition. Previously, Chelsea won against Crystal Palace in the 2018 League Cup group stages and again in 2006 to lift the Surrey Cup.
