Oklahoma City Thunder Chet Holmgren Playoff Game

MEMPHIS, Tennessee — The Oklahoma City Thunder pulled off a historic 29-point comeback against the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night, taking a commanding 3-0 lead in their playoff series. Chet Holmgren, who had struggled in the first half, finished with 24 points in the game, fundamentally changing the outcome.

Holmgren’s resurgence came after a slow start. The Thunder were down 69-40 with just three minutes left in the first half, and Holmgren had only contributed one point to the scoreboard. However, during halftime, he reset his mindset and returned to the court as a different player.

In the second half, Holmgren shot 50% from the field and from three-point range, leading the Thunder to outscore the Grizzlies 74-39 in the subsequent minutes. His performance was crucial in helping Oklahoma City secure the largest comeback in franchise history and the second-largest in NBA postseason history.

“Credit to Mark for sticking with me. It changed the trajectory of the game,” Holmgren said, referring to head coach Mark Daigneault. “Trusting me and calling a play for me helped a lot.”

Holmgren had already made a significant impact in the postseason with an average of 39 points, 21 rebounds, and seven blocks over the first two games against Memphis. As the playoffs progress, his performance will be vital for Oklahoma City.

The Thunder and Grizzlies are set to clash again during Game 4 on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. With Oklahoma City looking to sweep the series, Holmgren’s playoff intensity will be more crucial than ever if they want to advance.
