Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti Celebrations At Agra Fort

The birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is celebrated with great enthusiasm at Agra Fort where Aurangzeb had humiliated him in the Diwan-e-Aam. The Diwan-e-Aam will be illuminated with colorful lights, showcasing a laser light show depicting the life of Shivaji Maharaj.

The celebration is organized by the Ajinky Devgiri Foundation of Maharashtra. The event will witness the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Raosaheb Patil, the descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Uday Raj Ghoshale, and several ministers from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, including Yogi Adityanath.

The event features a rendition of the Maharashtra anthem, Shivaji Maharaj’s anthem, cultural dances depicting his life, and a laser show narrating the tales of his courage. The digital event aims to connect with two crore people.

Recounting the incident of 1666, during the Purandar Treaty, King Jay Singh had compelled Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to meet Aurangzeb at Agra Fort. However, Aurangzeb had malicious intentions of killing him. Yet, Shivaji Maharaj showed immense restraint and withheld from committing any mistake, leading to his imprisonment by Aurangzeb under deceitful circumstances.

After enduring months of captivity, Shivaji Maharaj achieved freedom from Aurangzeb’s imprisonment through his patience and skill, accompanied by his nine-year-old son Sambhaji. This is the second time that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary is being commemorated at Agra Fort, symbolizing his resilience amidst oppression.

Vinod Patil, President of the Ajinky Devgiri Foundation, informed that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also been invited to grace the event. The ceremony is scheduled to commence at 6 pm, with the Maharashtra CM joining at 7:30 pm.
