Chicago Bears Darrell Taylor Or Chicago Bears Acquire Defensive Lineman Darrell Taylor From Seattle Seahawks

The Chicago Bears have strengthened their defensive line by securing a trade for defensive lineman Darrell Taylor from the Seattle Seahawks. The acquisition comes in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in 2025, pending a successful physical examination.

Darrell Taylor, a second-round pick by the Seahawks in the 2020 NFL Draft from the University of Tennessee, faced a setback during his rookie year due to an injury. However, he has been a consistent presence on the field, playing in all 49 games over the past three seasons. During this period, Taylor has recorded impressive statistics including 91 tackles, 21.5 sacks, 22 tackles for loss, and five forced fumbles.

In the previous season, 2023, Taylor achieved 28 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and seven tackles for loss. His performance peaked in 2022 when he tallied 26 tackles and recorded career highs with 9.5 sacks along with eight tackles for loss.

To accommodate Taylor on the roster, the Bears released fourth-year defensive end Khalid Kareem and terminated the contract of wide receiver Freddie Swain, who had been placed on injured reserve on Wednesday.

In parallel developments, the Seahawks signed cornerback Willie Roberts, reinforcing their secondary after having previously released him just a week prior. Taylor’s move marks the second transaction for the Seahawks in just two days, as they also acquired linebacker Michael Barrett in a trade that saw cornerback Michael Jackson join the Carolina Panthers.
