KANSAS CITY, MO — As the NFL trade deadline approaches on November 4, Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach is assessing his roster and could seek veteran help for the team’s defensive line.

The Chiefs invested in defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott during the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, addressing a need in their defense. However, the rookie has struggled to take on a heavy workload, leaving the Chiefs reliant on superstar Chris Jones.

Veach did not bolster the defensive front beyond Norman-Lott, who currently plays only 20 percent of the snaps. This has raised concerns about the team’s ability to defend against both the pass and run effectively.

Pro Football Focus has identified several players who could be trade targets, including Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Calais Campbell. At 39 years old, Campbell’s continued success in the league is noteworthy. Even after 267 career games, he shows that he can disrupt offenses by accumulating 10 pressures, 3 sacks, and 15 combined tackles this season.

Campbell is in his first season with the Cardinals on a one-year contract valued at $6 million, which eases the financial aspect for any potential trade. The Chiefs would benefit significantly from adding his experience and talent to a defense that currently ranks low in NFL statistics.

The Cardinals, sitting at 2-4 and last in the NFC West, might consider trading Campbell for future assets as they struggle through the season. If they decide to offload him, the Chiefs would likely express interest, given their pressing need for defensive upgrades.

For Veach, whether the offer will be sufficient to secure Campbell remains uncertain, but he seems open to discussions as the trade deadline nears.
