Chippa United Secures Convincing Victory Over Richards Bay Fc

Chippa United ended a four-game winless run in the DStv Premiership with a 3-0 victory over ten-man Richards Bay FC on Wednesday night.

The Chilli Boys handed former Orlando Pirates striker Binevenu Eva Nga his first start since his return at the club, as the only change from their draw against Stellenbosch.

Richards Bay, on the other hand, made four alterations following their loss against Royal AM, as goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane, Abel Mabaso, Somila Ntsundwana, and Abdi Banda were all brought in.

United had a perfect start after Justice Chabalala gave them the lead on seven minutes with a header from a cross by Malebogo Modise.

The Chilli Boys capitalized on their dream start as Craig Martin doubled their lead five minutes later with a low drive that found the bottom corner.

Chippa were all over the Natal Rich Boyz and there were worries on the visitors’ bench ten minutes before the break after shot-stopper Mabokgwane got injured and he was replaced by Salim Magoola.

Vusumuzi Vilakazi’s charges managed to contain United better in the closing phase of the first stanza but needed to come up with a different plan after heading to the break 2-0 down.

Richards Bay had a terrible start to the second stanza after they were reduced to ten men, ten minutes in after Banda got a second yellow card for a handball and was red-carded.

However, Chippa had two good chances after that both through Justice Figuareido but his efforts with a header and a shot missed narrowly wide.

United was happy to play on transitions and Kayden Francis eventually killed the game 14 minutes before time with a strike in the box after a through ball by Elmo Kambindu.

Chippa strengthened their midfield with ten minutes to go, as Brooklyn Poggenpoel replaced Baraka Majogoro and they managed to guide Richards Bay as they clinched their first victory since the restart.

The win took the Chilli Boys up to tenth on the table while the 15th-placed Natal Rich Boyz’ cushion ahead of bottom side Cape Town Spurs was reduced to just two points.
