Chippa United Secures Key Players With Contract Extensions

Chippa United has reached agreements with two of their star players to extend their contracts, ensuring their continued presence at the club for the foreseeable future. Known as the Chilli Boys, Chippa United has faced a season of ups and downs in the league, currently holding the 12th spot on the table with 20 points accumulated out of a possible 54.

The team started the season under the guidance of Morgan Mammila, who returned to lead the club after a stint at Moroka Swallows. Later on, they brought in a former Golden Arrows coach to serve as their Technical Director, but his tenure was cut short after just two months. With four wins, eight draws, and six defeats in 18 league matches, Chippa United has experienced a mixed bag of results.

In a bid to turn things around, the club made changes to their coaching staff in January, transitioning Morgan Mammila to the role of technical advisor and appointing Thabo September and Kwanele Kopo as co-coaches. This new coaching setup has overseen three games, with two draws and one victory, guiding the team to the Nedbank Cup Last 16.

Looking ahead, Chippa United has secured the services of striker Elmo Kambindu with a contract extension and activated the option to retain midfielder Baraka Majogoro. Both players have committed their futures to the Eastern Cape-based club, although the exact length of their new contracts has not been disclosed.

Elmo Kambindu joined Chippa United at the start of the current season from CD Costa do Sol, showing improvement with four goals in nine matches. On the other hand, Baraka Majogoro signed with the club at the beginning of the campaign from Mtibwa Sugar, adding depth to the midfield.
