Alan Pulido Chivas Clausura 2025 Signing

GUADALAJARA, Mexico — Chivas de Guadalajara officially announced the signing of Mexican forward Alan Pulido for the Clausura 2025 season. The 33-year-old striker returns to the Rebaño Sagrado after a five-year stint with Sporting Kansas City in Major League Soccer (MLS).

Pulido, who previously played for Chivas from 2014 to 2019, rejoins the club following a successful spell in the MLS, where he scored 38 goals in 108 appearances. His return marks a significant boost for Chivas, as the team aims to reclaim the Liga MX title under new head coach Óscar García Junyent.

“Completely closed, Alan Pulido will be a Chivas player, and it will be announced shortly so he can join training this week,” reported Erick López of TUDN. Pulido’s signing comes as Chivas prepares for their Clausura 2025 opener against Santos Laguna on January 11.

Pulido’s first tenure with Chivas was marked by success, including three championships and a Golden Boot award. However, his time in the MLS was marred by a knee injury that sidelined him for the entire 2022 season. Despite this setback, Pulido has expressed his desire to retire with Chivas, a dream he shared in an interview with ESPN‘s Futbol Picante.

“I’ve always said that returning to Mexican soccer, especially to Chivas, would be something very special because of the love and everything I achieved with this institution,” Pulido said. “Retiring with Chivas would be a beautiful thing, but I still feel physically strong and believe I can contribute.”

Chivas fans are optimistic about Pulido’s return, as the team looks to strengthen its attack following inconsistent performances from Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, who has struggled with injuries since joining from LA Galaxy. Pulido’s experience and goal-scoring ability are expected to play a crucial role in Chivas’ pursuit of the Liga MX title.

In addition to Pulido’s signing, Chivas is also finalizing the departure of defender Jesús Orozco Chiquete, who is reportedly set to join Cruz Azul. The club is expected to announce further reinforcements as the season approaches.
