Christie Brinkley Opens Up About Aging in Upcoming Memoir

NEW YORK, April 17, 2025 — Christie Brinkley is embracing aging on her own terms as she prepares for the release of her memoir, “Uptown Girl,” on April 29. The renowned supermodel, now 71, recounted her journey defying industry standards while discussing her experiences with cosmetic procedures.
Brinkley recently shared stories from her vibrant life, reflecting on a turning point during her 30th birthday. “I was literally told you will be chewed up and spit out by 30,” she recalled. “So on that morning, I climbed a mountain and stood at the top, thinking I’ve never felt better. That’s when I decided to kiss the numbers goodbye; I wasn’t going to let them define me.” This pivotal moment marked the beginning of her acceptance of age as she continues to thrive in the spotlight.
With a career spanning over five decades, Brinkley has become a prominent figure in the beauty industry. In her new book, she reveals untold experiences and insights. She noted, “When I first went to my publisher, they asked, ‘Christie, is there anything to write about that we don’t already know?’ And I said, ‘Oh yes, tons!’
The supermodel addressed the evolving landscape of beauty standards, especially regarding aging. “The most beautiful thing that’s happened in our industry is the expansion of what we consider beautiful, and that includes us ‘seasoned’ gals,” she explained. However, she expressed a desire for more representation, stating, “Age is the last frontier. You see older women on runways and in magazines, but it’s still not enough.”
Brinkley has often been questioned about her approach to cosmetic enhancements. She mentioned, “I mainly do lasers. I don’t try to get rid of every wrinkle,” adding that her focus has shifted towards health rather than vanity. “I just did Fraxel because I had skin cancer, and that helps get rid of precancerous cells. It’s mainly about health for me now.”
The memoir showcases her candid stance on the pressures faced by women in the beauty industry, including the scrutiny of aging. Brinkley recalls pushback from critics when she posted a selfie featuring her wrinkles. “Whoa Nelly! The Wrinkle Brigade is out in full force!” she responded. She also highlighted the positive feedback she receives, saying, “Those are the comments that restore my faith and make my heart sing!”
As she prepares to unveil more personal stories from her life, Brinkley remains a fierce advocate for aging with grace, blending honesty and humor. Her memoir is poised to resonate with readers navigating their own experiences with beauty and aging, showcasing her belief that beauty is not confined to youth.
To dive deeper into Brinkley’s wisdom and experiences, “Uptown Girl” is now available for preorder at major bookstores.
