FC Cincinnati Dominates Inter Miami CF in Record-Breaking Match
FC Cincinnati hosted Inter Miami CF in a highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash at TQL Stadium, resulting in a record-breaking performance from the home team. The match marked the second time in MLS history that the top two teams met after the 21st matchday of the season.
Both sides were missing key players due to various reasons, but FC Cincinnati’s quality shone through from the outset, with relentless attacking and solid defending.
While Inter Miami CF had the first scoring opportunity with a headed corner kick saved by Roman Celentano, it was FC Cincinnati who struck first. A brilliant play from Luca Orellano set up Yuya Kubo to score the opening goal in the 10th minute.
Inter Miami CF responded with Sergii Kryvtsov‘s header from a corner kick to level the score at 1-1. However, FC Cincinnati’s MVP, Luciano Acosta, restored the lead with a fantastic solo goal, dribbling past three defenders to make it 2-1.
Acosta continued his stellar performance by providing an assist for Pavel Bucha to score the third goal for FC Cincinnati, extending their lead. Just before half-time, Yamil Asad netted the fourth goal, capping off a dominant first half for the home side.
The second half saw FC Cincinnati picking up where they left off, as Orellano and Kubo combined again to increase the lead to 5-1. Inter Miami CF’s captain, Sergio Busquests, was sent off in the 60th minute, reducing the visitors to 10 men.
FC Cincinnati took advantage of the extra player by bringing on youngsters Bret Halsey and Gerardo Valenzuela. Valenzuela, a local talent, scored the sixth goal of the night, sealing the 6-1 victory for FC Cincinnati.
With this win, FC Cincinnati claimed the top spot in the Eastern Conference and Supporters’ Shield standings, setting the stage for their upcoming matches against Charlotte FC, Chicago Fire FC, and New York Red Bulls before their Leagues Cup campaign.
