Citypickle Courts Anchorage Plaza Brooklyn

Brooklyn, NY — CityPickle has announced plans for a major redevelopment of Anchorage Plaza, located beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. This transformation will create “CityPickle Brooklyn Bridge,” featuring 11 pickleball courts along with green spaces, food trucks, seating, and community programming.

The 60,000-square-foot site includes the Old Fulton Street Yard, Washington Old Street Yard, and Ash Alley. CityPickle was chosen as the leading proposer by NYC Parks during a Request for Proposals process in 2024.

Operating under a license agreement with NYC Parks, CityPickle Brooklyn Bridge will initially function for three years, with options for three one-year extensions. The project is expected to open after permitting and construction are completed, marking the first public use of the area in over 15 years.

In addition to the pickleball courts, the plaza aims to offer activities like chess and arts programming to encourage community engagement and wellness. The courts will operate seasonally during the warmer months, while the site will provide year-round amenities such as pedestrian walkways, food options, and recreational games.

CityPickle previously collaborated with Wollman Park Partners in Central Park, attracting more than 130,000 players to its seasonal courts. The project at Anchorage Plaza is anticipated to enhance community interaction and recreation in the area.
