Clemson Football Practice Scrimmage Memorial Stadium

CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson football head coach Dabo Swinney addressed the media following the team’s spring scrimmage at Memorial Stadium on March 12, 2025. This event marked a significant step in the Tigers’ preparations for the upcoming season.

The scrimmage was a key component of Clemson’s first phase of spring practice, enabling players to showcase their skills in a game-like environment. “It was important for us to get on the field and put our training into action,” Swinney said. “I saw some good things out there today. The effort was solid, and we’re starting to build some depth in key positions.”

During the scrimmage, the squad faced various drills, including live scrimmage situations designed to simulate the intensity of actual games. Swinney emphasized the importance of this practice in shaping the team’s chemistry. “As we prepare for the fall, building trust and communication is key. Today was a step in that direction,” he noted.

In addition to discussing the scrimmage, Swinney also shared insights regarding the Clemson men’s basketball team’s journey as they prepare for the upcoming ACC Tournament. “I wish our guys the best of luck. They’ve worked hard, and it’s time for them to shine on that stage,” he stated.

Earlier this week, Clemson athletes also participated in Pro Day, where scouts and NFL personnel evaluated their performances. Swinney shared pride in his players showcasing their skills, saying, “Pro Day is a testament to the hard work these guys have put into their craft.” Several players improved their standings, solidifying their prospects for the NFL draft.

Barrett Carter, a key player preparing for pro opportunities, expressed relief after completing his drills. “I’m glad I don’t have to run another 40-yard dash! This process has been intense, and I’m ready for what’s next,” Carter commented.

The team remains focused as it balances preparation for spring practice, player evaluations, and the ongoing basketball season, illustrating the diverse athleticism at Clemson University.
