Clemson Dominates Radford 79-51 in Sunshine Slam Campus Game
Clemson secured a convincing victory over Radford with a final score of 79-51 in a Sunshine Slam campus game held on Thursday night. The Tigers, led by Chauncey Wiggins and Dillon Hunter, showcased strong performances that propelled them to their fourth win of the season.
Chauncey Wiggins scored 16 points, while Dillon Hunter contributed a career-high 15 points. Ian Schieffelin also had a notable game, scoring 14 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Schieffelin is one of only five players in the country averaging at least 11.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game.
Radford struggled significantly in the second half, missing 15 of their first 18 shots and trailing 60-37 with six minutes left. The Highlanders had two stretches in the second half where they missed seven consecutive shots. Zion Walker led Radford with 10 points, but the team’s overall shooting was dismal, finishing the game with a 31% field goal percentage.
Clemson’s Chase Hunter, who had a career-high 30 points in their previous loss to Boise State, was held to 10 points in this game. Despite this, the Tigers maintained a strong lead throughout, thanks in part to Wiggins’ 10 points in the first half, which helped Clemson to a 38-26 advantage at halftime.
Both teams will head to Florida for their next games. Clemson will face San Francisco in the Sunshine Jam on Monday, while Radford will play against Chicago State in the Ocean Division of the tournament.
