Cleveland Browns Trade for Offensive Tackle Cam Robinson

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland Browns have acquired veteran offensive tackle Cam Robinson from the Houston Texans, according to multiple reports, including ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The trade, announced on September 29, 2025, involves a swap of seventh-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Robinson, 30, is entering his ninth NFL season. Originally taken in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Robinson signed a one-year, $12 million contract with the Texans earlier this offseason. He played in three games for Houston this season.
Despite starting the first game of the season for the Texans, Robinson was replaced by rookie Aireontae Ersery following his debut. He remained inactive for Houston’s recent victory over the Tennessee Titans.
The Browns have faced challenges this season with injuries impacting their offensive line. Starting left tackle Dawand Jones suffered a season-ending injury in Week 3, and right tackle Jack Conklin is also dealing with an elbow injury.
Robinson’s trade to the Browns follows a brief tenure with the Texans. He was part of a trade to the Minnesota Vikings last fall, where he played the final ten games of the 2024 season after replacing an injured player. The Browns, currently holding a 1-3 record, are scheduled to face the Vikings (2-2) in London on Sunday.
As part of the deal, the Browns will send a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Texans while receiving a seventh-round pick in return. NFL insider Ian Rapoport highlighted that Robinson’s desire for a starting position at left tackle was a factor in the trade, as the Texans opted to develop their rookie tackle.
With this acquisition, Robinson will have the opportunity to compete for the starting left tackle position in Cleveland, joining his fourth NFL team in the past year.
