Clippers Face Pistons Without Star Addition Simmons on Monday

DETROIT, Michigan – On Monday night, the Los Angeles Clippers will take on the Detroit Pistons in their second game of a back-to-back series. The Clippers enter this matchup facing challenges, particularly regarding player availability.
Heading into Sunday’s game against the Indiana Pacers, the Clippers ruled out key players, including stars Kawhi Leonard and Norman Powell. Additionally, Ben Simmons, who recently joined the team, will not be participating in Monday’s game as he is expected to rest.
Clippers head coach Ty Lue announced the news after Sunday’s game. He acknowledged Simmons’ contributions since his arrival, stating, “Being able to have him on the floor, being able to switch one through five. I thought his pace put them in some tough spots at times because they weren’t able to get matched up with the five to guard him as well.”
Simmons made his third appearance with the Clippers in Indiana, where he contributed nine points, five rebounds, and five assists off the bench. Despite his efforts, the Clippers are currently on a two-game losing streak, with a record of 1-2 since Simmons joined the lineup.
“That’s the advantage of having him on the floor. He can push the basketball and make a play, attack the basket, and get to the free-throw line,” Lue added. “I thought he did a good job of just continuing to find his rhythm and understanding how he’s going to play in our system.”
As the Clippers prepare for their matchup against the Pistons, their ability to adapt to the absence of Simmons could be crucial for their performance. With Simmons resting and key players out, the team will rely on other contributors to step up in Detroit.
