Clippers Vs Rockets Basketball Game Highlights

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Houston Rockets 134-117 on April 9, 2025, thanks to an impressive performance from James Harden, who scored 35 points and provided 10 assists at the Intuit Dome.

The game showcased a clear contrast between the two teams’ playoff positions. Houston, already secured as the No. 2 seed in the 2024-25 Western Conference playoffs, opted to rest several key players, allowing the Clippers to capitalize on their full roster, including Harden.

The Clippers improved their season record to 48-32, while the Rockets fell to 52-28. Despite having limited starters on the court, Houston remained competitive, driven by rookie Reed Sheppard‘s solid performance, who contributed 20 points and 5 rebounds.

With a fast-paced start, both teams showed shooting prowess, with the Clippers hitting 19 of 37 three-point attempts (51.4%) and the Rockets converting on 20 of 40 (50.0%). However, Los Angeles secured the edge by drawing 19 free throws and making them all.

“He was aggressive,” Clippers head coach Ime Udoka praised Harden’s playstyle. “He understands the shots he’s going to get against certain matchups. It’s a balance between getting his teammates involved and being aggressive himself.”

The Clippers surged ahead with a 17-4 scoring run in the first quarter and maintained the lead, overcoming a brief second-quarter hiccup when the Rockets briefly took a lead.

Alongside Harden’s stellar show, Ivica Zubac achieved a triple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, marking a significant achievement in his career. Veteran Kawhi Leonard also played a crucial role, adding 22 points and 10 rebounds.

For the Rockets, although key players like Fred VanVleet and Jabari Smith Jr. rested, the young squad managed an encouraging outing. Jalen Green, limited to 15 minutes, struggled for just 5 points, while Tari Eason and Cam Whitmore collectively added 31 points.

“It’s important for our young guys to experience games like this. It helps us build for the playoffs,” Udoka stated after the game.

The game marked just the third loss for Houston in their last 18 competitions, ensuring their focus remains on maintaining players’ health ahead of the impending playoff series.

As the regular season nears its conclusion, both teams will prepare for their final games. The Rockets will face the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Houston Rockets, while the Clippers aim to solidify their playoff seeding.
