Cody Rhodes Wwe 2025 Slammy Awards

LAS VEGAS, NV — Cody Rhodes has been named Male Superstar of the Year for the second consecutive year during the 2025 WWE Slammys: The Fans Choice Awards, held on April 20 ahead of WrestleMania 41’s Night 2. The announcement highlights Rhodes’ remarkable performance throughout the past year, leading up to his Undisputed WWE Championship defense against John Cena.

Rhodes triumphed over other top contenders, including Roman Reigns, Gunther, CM Punk, and Seth Rollins, receiving overwhelming support from fans in the voting. “I’m incredibly grateful for this recognition,” said Rhodes after receiving his award. “To be acknowledged by the fans means everything, especially as we approach such a pivotal match.”

Liv Morgan also received significant praise, taking home the award for Female Superstar of the Year, coinciding with her upcoming Women’s Tag Team Championship defense alongside Raquel Gonzalez. Both champions celebrated their accolades at the event, which was held at WWE World in Las Vegas, hosted by Big E and Cathy Kelley.

Rhodes, known as “The American Nightmare,” has enjoyed a year-long title reign since he defeated Reigns at WrestleMania XL. His tenure has included standout encounters, such as an acclaimed match against AJ Styles at Backlash in France and an intense feud with Kevin Owens. “Every moment has been a journey,” Rhodes acknowledged. “The fan support fuels my passion.”

The 2025 Slammy Awards featured other notable winners, including Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair for Tag Team of the Year, and the match between Rhodes and Reigns, along with another contest between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk, receiving the Match of the Year honors. The recognition reflects a year filled with exciting rivalries and memorable performances in WWE.

In a surprising twist during the past year, John Cena turned heel for the first time since 2003 after an altercation with Rhodes, leading to their championship clash on Sunday. Cena, determined to secure his 17th world championship, is in a unique position to break a tie with Ric Flair. “This is a chance to redefine myself,” Cena said in a recent interview. “Cody and I have history, and I’m ready to take it to the next level.”

As the wrestling world turns its attention to WrestleMania 41, fans are eager to see how the day unfolds for both Rhodes and Cena, whose match is set to become a historic showdown between two of WWE’s biggest stars.
