Cole Anthony Orlando Magic Game Action 2025

ORLANDO, Fla. — Cole Anthony has emerged as a key player for the Orlando Magic during a season riddled with injuries. Despite inconsistent playing time, Anthony has delivered crucial performances, helping the Magic maintain a competitive edge in the Eastern Conference.

Anthony, who began the season as the backup point guard, has seen his role fluctuate due to roster availability and performance. Averaging career-lows of 6.3 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.3 rebounds in just 12.5 minutes per game, his impact has been felt in critical moments. The Magic are 9-0 this season when Anthony plays at least 15 minutes, showcasing his value to the team.

Injuries have plagued the Magic, with key players like Jalen Suggs, Paolo Banchero, and Franz Wagner sidelined. Suggs, who suffered back spasms, missed Sunday’s game against the Utah Jazz and remains under evaluation. His absence has forced Orlando to rely on Anthony, who has stepped up in high-pressure situations.

Anthony’s standout moments include a 35-point game against the Miami Heat on Dec. 21, tying for the third-most points scored by a reserve in franchise history. He also hit a game-winning shot against the Brooklyn Nets and delivered a 24-point, seven-rebound, and four-assist performance in a recent win over the New York Knicks.

“He’s a force on the offensive end,” teammate Cory Joseph said after Anthony’s 11-assist performance against the Toronto Raptors. “He draws two people to him and makes the right plays over and over again. It’s amazing to watch.”

Despite his contributions, Anthony’s season has been marked by inconsistency. He has recorded two or more turnovers in six of the last eight games, highlighting the challenges he faces in maintaining steady production. However, his ability to step up in critical moments has been invaluable for the Magic.

The Magic’s resilience amid injuries has been a testament to their depth and unity. With a 22-16 record and the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference, Orlando has defied expectations. Players like Jonathan Isaac and Wendell Carter Jr. have also stepped up, creating a sense of camaraderie that has fueled their success.

“We have enough,” Anthony said after a recent win. “We are enough, and we just proved it again tonight. Bodies down? Cool. We still got active bodies that can get after it.”

As the Magic prepare to face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday, they aim to maintain their momentum. The return of Wagner and Banchero, who were carrying the offensive load before their injuries, will further bolster the team’s prospects. For now, Anthony and his teammates continue to rise to the challenge, proving that adversity can bring a team closer together.
