College Baseball Rankings Shift Ahead of Final Week

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – As the regular season of college baseball reaches its final week, teams are making last-minute pushes for postseason positioning. This week featured several key matchups, including No. 7 Arkansas squaring off against No. 3 LSU in a top-ten battle.
Other notable games included No. 16 NC State versus No. 4 North Carolina, No. 6 Georgia against No. 23 Alabama, and No. 11 Vanderbilt competing against No. 15 Tennessee. With playoff spots on the line, every game carried significant weight.
LSU solidified its position with a series win over Arkansas, winning the first two games before falling in the finale on Sunday. “We came out swinging, but had an off day to finish the series,” said LSU coach Jay Johnson.
Florida State also climbed back up to No. 2 in the rankings, after beating Jacksonville 14-2 and winning a series against Cal. The Seminoles’ overall record now stands at 36-11.
Texas, who had been ranked No. 1, suffered a series loss to Florida, which dropped them to No. 3. Despite a strong record of 40-10, Coach David Pierce acknowledged the need to fix their mistakes moving forward.
North Carolina had a strong start to their week, defeating Campbell 10-1, but their series against NC State was impacted by weather and ended in a tie.
Meanwhile, Auburn swept South Carolina, securing their spot in the top ten with a perfect week of 3-0.
As the rankings are set to change heading into the final week, four new teams could enter D1Baseball‘s top 25, increasing the competition as teams push for a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
