College Football Week 13: Playoff Hopes and Unique Uniforms
NORMAN, Okla. — As the college football season heads into Week 13, teams are gearing up for rivalry matchups amidst playoff ambitions. Among the significant games, No. 8 Oklahoma will host No. 22 Missouri on Saturday, eyeing a spot in the College Football Playoff.
The Sooners, boasting an 8-2 record, will sport new anthracite alternate uniforms, ditching their traditional crimson and cream. Known as the “Unity” uniforms, they feature an anthracite-heavy color scheme and the word “Unity” in place of player names on the back of each jersey.
Oklahoma’s head coach Brent Venables has previously implemented these alternates during select games, and the team has shown a strong performance in those matchups.
Meanwhile, No. 12 Utah will also showcase a distinct look as they aim for a playoff spot. The Utes will don all-black uniforms with bright red numbers as they continue their three-game winning streak against Arizona.
Not to be outdone, Oregon is set to roll out a dark-themed kit with a black base and metallic accents, accompanied by modern designs reminiscent of their previous uniforms. The Ducks continue to impress with their innovative uniform themes.
While these uniforms aim to bring excitement, teams like UTEP and UTSA are also stepping it up. UTEP’s helmets feature an old-school cartoon miner, while UTSA’s design incorporates elements representing the local culture of San Antonio.
Virginia Tech will wear grey uniforms that honor “Hokie Stone,” connecting their look to the school’s campus. Similarly, Iowa State will adjust their traditional helmet design for Senior Day, highlighting an alternate bird logo.
This week’s college football slate may not present numerous top-tier matchups, but schools are fully committed to making an impression on and off the field as they push for postseason glory.
