Collin County Election Results May 2025

COLLIN COUNTY, Texas – Voters in Collin County cast their ballots on Saturday, May 3, 2025, for crucial city projects and council positions. Preliminary results indicate significant support for a $650 million bond referendum aimed at funding various infrastructure improvements.

As the polls closed, unofficial tallies showed strong backing for all seven propositions that make up the bond package. Projects include enhancements to streets, a new police headquarters, and fire station upgrades, vital for maintaining the city’s aging infrastructure.

In addition to the bond issues, voters also elected four new council members, altering half of the Plano City Council. In the race for Place 2, Bob Kehr led with 56% of the vote, while Douglas Reeves and Carson Underwood trailed with 23% and 21%, respectively.

Chris Krupa Downs in Place 4 held a narrow lead with 55% against Cody Weaver, who received 45%. The election for the Place 5 spot came after the previous council member pursued a position on the Collin County Commissioners Court. Steve Lavine led this race with 58% of votes against Gary Cary‘s 42%.

In Place 8, Vidal Quintanilla led with 54%, followed by Hayden Padgett with 46%. At the same time, the incumbent in another position won re-election without opposition.

Approximately 19,000 ballots were submitted in the Plano elections, with estimates suggesting that 67% were cast early. Proposition A, which proposed $316.5 million for street enhancements, gained 72% support. Proposition B, aimed at constructing a new police headquarters, also found favor with 60% of voters.

Other propositions included requests for funds to rebuild the police training center, improve fire stations, and upgrade library facilities, with all receiving majority approval in early tallies. If all propositions are affirmed, residents can expect a tax rate increase of 3.2 cents.

The Collin County elections reported an 11% voter turnout from approximately 740,500 registered voters. The final results remain subject to further verification from local election officials.
