Colorado Avalanche Face Injuries as Ross Colton Shines Despite Loss to Boston Bruins
The Colorado Avalanche faced a challenging game against the Boston Bruins, suffering a 5-3 loss. However, one highlight for the Avalanche was Ross Colton, who managed to score a power-play goal. Despite his strong performance, Colton and the team did not correlate the goal to any kind of personal ritual due to the eventual outcome of the game.
In the words of Colton, “I don’t think so maybe, if we won, maybe then I’d have to break it over somebody’s head… but that was just unfortunate,” he said, humorously addressing the idea of creating a new pre-game tradition.
The Avalanche have been coping with a series of injuries early in the season. Notably, Jonathan Drouin, a top-line forward, was sidelined in the first game, with an unclear return timeline. In his absence, Colton has been covering his position. Though he brings a different style to the game, Colton is noted for his grit, which is more akin to teammates Gabriel Landeskog and Valeri Nichushkin.
During Wednesday’s game, Colton not only scored but also had four shots on goal, five hits, and two blocked shots. This performance contributes to his statistics this season, which include two goals, one assist, and a total of 13 shots on net. Colton’s offensive consistency has been questioned, but his contribution in terms of shots and hits remains substantial, especially as he plays a more prominent role due to team injuries.
