Colorado Buffaloes Football At Folsom Field

In an exciting start to the 2024 college football season, the Colorado Buffaloes welcomed North Dakota State University (NDSU) to Folsom Field on Thursday evening. The game, which began at 6 p.m. MT, featured a competitive matchup between two teams with rich football traditions.

Leading the charge for Colorado was quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who showcased his skills by connecting with star receiver Travis Hunter for multiple touchdowns. The duo’s impressive performance helped the Buffaloes regain the lead in the game, establishing a score of 24-20 with seven minutes left in the third quarter.

Sanders had previously thrown just three interceptions during the entire last season, but he faced an early challenge in the 2024 opener as he had one interception against NDSU. Despite this setback, the Buffaloes’ defense responded strongly, with defensive lineman Chidozie Nwankwo recording a crucial sack, allowing Colorado to regain possession.

At halftime, Colorado trailed NDSU by a narrow margin of 20-17 after Alejandro Mata successfully converted a 27-yard field goal just before the break. At that moment, Shedeur Sanders recorded an impressive statistic of 12 completions out of 15 attempts for 254 yards, alongside two touchdowns. NDSU’s quarterback Cam Miller also performed admirably, completing 10 of 13 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns.

The game reached a pivotal moment as Colorado controversially opted to go for it on a fourth-and-one from deep within their territory, only to be stuffed by the NDSU defense. This decision led to NDSU scoring a 31-yard field goal, extending their lead to 20-14.

As the game commenced, both offenses demonstrated their potency. Colorado initially took a lead of 7-3 following a 69-yard touchdown by Jimmy Horn Jr. The Bison answered back promptly, as they executed successful scoring drives to maintain a competitive game atmosphere, showcasing their determination and skill.

Fans were eager to see the new black and gold uniforms of the Colorado Buffaloes, which featured a design of the flatirons on the jerseys’ shoulders, while NDSU appeared in their traditional white uniforms. The excitement in Folsom Field was palpable, indicating a hopeful start to the season for the Buffaloes under the leadership of coach Deion Sanders, who appeared in good health compared to the previous year.
