Colts Nfl Trade Deadline 2023

INDIANAPOLIS — As the NFL’s trade deadline approaches next Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, the Indianapolis Colts are exploring potential moves to strengthen their roster. Over the past nine seasons, Colts General Manager Chris Ballard has only made one trade to acquire a player around this time, but this year’s team may prompt a different approach.

The Colts hold the best record in the league at 7-1, heading into their game this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Their offense has been thriving, leading the NFL in scoring, yards per game, and yards per play. Tight end Mo Alie-Cox noted, “The vibes are great” within the team.

Despite their offensive success, the Colts’ defense has shown vulnerabilities. They rank 30th in third-down defense and 24th in yards allowed per game. Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner acknowledged the need for improvement, stating, “We have to get that fixed.”

The Colts are particularly interested in acquiring pass rushers and cornerbacks to bolster their defense for a potential playoff push. Sources indicate that trade discussions have taken place, but many potential deals fell through as teams declined to negotiate.

One player linked to the Colts is defensive end Sam Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bengals. However, the Bengals have conveyed that they will only consider trading him for significant draft-pick compensation. If that stance changes, the Colts would be interested.

As the clock ticks down to the trade deadline, the Colts are still actively seeking opportunities to enhance their roster. Fans are eager to see if Ballard will make a move this time around that could pay off in the playoffs.
