Lucy Beaumont, known for her work on the television series ‘Meet The Richardsons’, has publicly addressed her separation from fellow comedian Jon Richardson. The couple, who were married for nearly a decade, revealed their separation earlier this year. In a recent interview with OK! Magazine, Beaumont opened up about why she has chosen to remain private on the details of their split.

“People might think I should talk about it because we were so public and everyone knew us as a couple, but I won’t, and not because there’s any animosity,” Beaumont stated. “We both agreed that while it might be weird for other people not hearing anything about it, we wouldn’t talk about anything to do with the marriage or each other.” This decision to maintain privacy contrasts with their previously public relationship, which included collaborating on the popular television show ‘Meet The Richardsons’.

The comedians’ public chemistry was a key part of their appeal, but despite their success as a working couple, they decided to part ways. The separation was formalized with Richardson paying Beaumont a settlement of £1.625 million, which included shares in their company, This Guy at Night Limited, as well as additional duties, based on financial disclosures.

The couple announced their separation in a statement through PA news agency, emphasizing their amicable decision: “After nine years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated. We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways. As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being.”

The couple remains co-owners of shared properties, including homes in Yorkshire and London, both valued at £1 million each. The two share a daughter, Elsie Louise, born in 2016.

During a lighthearted appearance on ‘8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown’, a clip resurfaced showing Beaumont joking about their future together. When host Jimmy Carr asked a probing question about marriage, Beaumont quipped, “I don’t see this for life.”

Fans have expressed surprise at the couple’s split, given their public personas and the ongoing success of ‘Meet The Richardsons’, which has become a favorite among audiences. Despite the end of their personal relationship, both Beaumont and Richardson appear committed to maintaining their professional lives separately. Beaumont is embarking on a new podcast and a stand-up tour, marking an assertive new phase in her career.
