As summer comes to an end, it’s that time again when several films that hit theaters earlier this year will be making their way to streaming services in August. Whether you’re in the mood for action, animated fun, or classic favorites, there’s plenty to choose from as new offerings rotate throughout platforms.

For fans eagerly anticipating the new Warner Bros. release of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) in September, the original Beetlejuice (1988) is set to arrive on Max on August 1. Fans can catch Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara’s unforgettable performances.

Ahead of Season 2 of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power premiering on August 29, you can watch all the films from Peter Jackson’s beloved trilogy starting August 1. Plus, the entire The Hobbit trilogy will be available on the same day, giving viewers a chance to revisit these epic tales.

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ll want to check out Peacock on August 1, as all eight Harry Potter films will be streaming exclusively there. It’s a perfect time for a magical marathon, especially with fall just around the corner.

On August 2, Hulu is welcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the latest installment in the beloved franchise. The film, directed by Wes Ball, continues the saga set hundreds of years after Matt Reeves’ films and is ready to stream alongside its classic predecessors.

Then, on August 9, Peacock will release The Bikeriders, a film based on the 1968 photo book by Danny Lyon that follows a fictional story about motorcycle gangs in Chicago. Featuring Austin Butler and Tom Hardy, this film has been much anticipated!

Also debuting on Peacock the same day is Renfield, a horror-comedy featuring Nicholas Hoult and Nicolas Cage. Renfield explores the co-dependent relationship between Dracula and his long-suffering assistant, which makes for some darkly comedic moments.

On August 13, Hulu will release The Woman King, a historical epic featuring powerful performances from Viola Davis and Lashana Lynch, among others. This film tells a gripping story inspired by true events from the Kingdom of Dahomey.

Later in the month, we can look forward to the horror film Immaculate, starring Sydney Sweeney, hitting Hulu on August 16. This chilling tale follows a nun who discovers sinister happenings in her peaceful Italian convent.

Finally, on August 30, Ryan Gosling‘s tribute to stunt performers will be available on Peacock, complete with an extended cut featuring 20 additional minutes of footage not shown in theaters.
