Confusion as Live Studio Audience Appears in Love Island All Stars Final
Fans tuning in to ITV2‘s Love Island: All Stars live final were puzzled by the sudden presence of a massive live studio audience in the villa garden behind show host Maya Jama.
The first season of the Love Island spin-off concluded on Monday night, with finalist couples from past seasons battling it out for the £50,000 prize. The show aired live from the villa in South Africa where filming has taken place over the past five weeks.
The show, which airs in the UK on ITV2, left viewers bewildered as they witnessed a live studio audience cheering and clapping for host Maya Jama while overseeing the final moments and highlights from the show.
Many fans couldn’t figure out where the audience had come from since Love Island: All Stars doesn’t air in South Africa. It seemed unlikely that ITV would fly in a group of TV fans from the UK to the filming location on the other side of the world.
Viewers took to social media to express their confusion over the unexpected appearance of the audience.
One fan on Twitter raised the question: ‘Who do they get as an audience for a final like this to fill seats? Just locals? Always baffles me.’ Another user agreed, mentioning their confusion during prerecorded Love Island episodes where the audience appeared ‘looking confused’.
A show source clarified that the audience consisted of local individuals who had applied for tickets to attend the live event.
While some viewers hoped the audience’s inclusion would spark some last-minute drama, others were eager for the audience to support Callum and Molly rekindling their relationship.
Callum and Molly, who met on Love Island in 2020 during season six, had dated for three and a half years before parting ways, leaving fans heartbroken. Both reunited on the All Stars spin-off, unaware of each other’s presence in the villa.
Throughout their time in the villa, despite breaking up and coupling up with others, fans noticed lingering glances and palpable sexual tension between Callum and Molly, reigniting hope that they might get back together.
Celebrity fans including Joey Essex and Scarlett Moffatt even expressed their desires for Callum and Molly to reunite, causing discomfort for Molly and her current suitor, Tom.
