Connie Chung

Renowned former television news anchor, Connie Chung, has had a cannabis strain named after her, highlighting her enduring influence. On September 16, Ms. Chung commented humorously, “I’m easy to grow. I create a lovely flower, and one of my favorite parts is that I’m low-maintenance. I find that very admirable, although I don’t think Maury would agree that I’m low-maintenance.” This light-hearted remark referred to her husband, Maury Povich.

Ms. Chung is currently engaged in promoting her memoir titled “Connie.” During this publicity tour, she discovered from her niece that a cannabis strain shares her name. True to her journalistic roots, Ms. Chung delved into research regarding this new development, noting that a pack of five pre-rolled joints was available online for $22.

In an exchange reported by the Associated Press, she was asked by journalist Savannah Guthrie, “Did you bring any?” To which Ms. Chung replied, “No, you can get it online.” The marijuana strain is described as a “heavy indica that crosses LA Flavor and G13 Haze.” This potent strain is characterized by its light green buds and flavors of earth and pine, and it is reputed for its “hazy head high,” making it ideal for winding down at the end of the day.

Connie Chung, who was born in Washington, D.C. in 1946, mentioned that she hasn’t “smoked marijuana since college.” She attended the University of Maryland between 1966 and 1969 before her prominent roles as anchor on NBC Nightly News from 1983 to 1989 and CBS Evening News from 1989 to 1995.
