BJP MLA Bahadur Singh Koli has stirred controversy with his recent statement regarding Section 3 of the SC/ST Act. The legislator from Vair has asserted that a significant number of cases filed under this section are false, further claiming that large sums of money are extorted in the name of settlements. He labeled the use of this act as “goondagardi” (hooliganism).

Speaking at an event to upgrade the Khedli Mod police outpost to a station in Bharatpur, Koli was joined by the Superintendent of Police, Mridul Kachhawa, and other law enforcement officials. His comments have sparked debate and concern about the misuse of legal provisions intended to protect marginalized communities.

Koli highlighted incidents where individuals who lend money for weddings or essential needs face allegations under the SC/ST Act when they seek repayment. “Even the lenders have to forfeit their money, and subsequently, they are often forced to pay additional amounts ranging from 200,000 to 500,000 INR for reconciliation,” Koli stated.

The MLA called for more attention to be paid to cases filed under this act, advocating for measures to curb its misuse, which he referred to as a form of gangsterism. “If any hooliganism exists, it is due to the SC/ST Act,” he remarked, urging the attending authorities to address the issue.

Koli also commended SP Mridul Kachhawa for effectively controlling crime in Bharatpur, noting that the escalation of the Khedli Mod outpost to a police station will further deter criminal activities. “Criminals who used to flee towards Jaipur or Salempur will now face challenges with this new development,” he commented.
