Cool And Rainy Day In Calgary

Today in Calgary, we’re starting off with a cool morning, sitting at around 13°C under a blanket of mostly cloudy skies. If you’re heading out, you might want to grab that rain jacket because there’s a good chance of showers throughout the day.

The likelihood of rain is about 30% this morning, but it ramps up to 60% by the evening. Expect some brisk winds from the north, reaching up to 20 km/h, with gusts hitting around 40 km/h later in the day, which will definitely make it feel chillier.

The high for today is only going to hit around 17°C. If you plan on venturing outside, layering up with a light sweater under a waterproof jacket should do the trick. Don’t forget your umbrella or rain hat to keep dry!

Looking ahead, tomorrow isn’t shaping up to be much different. We can expect more cool temperatures and a continued chance of showers, with the high just barely reaching 16°C. If you’re hoping for a break, hang in there—the rain should ease off by mid-week, and temperatures are set to climb gradually.

Fun fact for today: back on August 6 in 1914, Calgary experienced a scorching hot day reaching a record high of 35.6°C! Quite a contrast to today’s cool and drizzly weather. In addition, the record low for this date was a frigid 1.9°C in 2002, so the weather today is a bit of a mix between those extremes.

As for rainfall, the most Calgary has ever received on this day was 42.7 mm back in 1924. While we likely won’t see numbers like that today, it’s wise to be prepared for the wet conditions!
