Philadelphia Weather Forecast June 2025

PHILADELPHIA, PA — After 10 consecutive days of chilly weather, residents of Philadelphia can expect a return to warmer summer temperatures as June begins. Patrick O’Hara, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, noted that this unseasonably cool stretch is unusual for this time of year.

Throughout May, Philadelphia has experienced a notably dreary month with a mere single clear day thus far, a stark contrast to the typical seven clear days the city usually enjoys in May. The upcoming weekend is expected to bring additional rainfall, which could lead the month to become the wettest in over a year, according to O’Hara.

The Philadelphia Phillies postponed their game against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday due to rain, which was part of a larger weather pattern affecting the Northeast. The city may accumulate up to 20 days of rain by the end of the week.

Tom Kines, a senior meteorologist with AccuWeather, explained that the recent cold spell is attributed to a dip in the jet stream, resulting in cooler conditions stretching from Washington to Boston. “It’s been a slow transition,” said Kines. “Usually, when the dry spell breaks, it happens with a vengeance.”

Up until now, the year’s rainfall has been near normal while still significantly below last year’s totals. As May rolls into its final days, rain is expected to persist into the weekend, with a chance of thunderstorms on Friday night. However, a rise in temperatures is predicted for June, with highs reaching the 70s early next week and possibly hitting the 90s by midweek.

As warmer weather approaches, residents are reminded to prepare for changes in outdoor plans, particularly with special events like concerts scheduled in the area.
