INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Cooper Flagg scored 30 points as Duke University defeated the University of Arizona 82-75 in the Sweet 16 of the 2025 NCAA Tournament on March 27 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The game, marked by intense competition and clutch performances, saw both teams exchanging leads throughout. Flagg, a standout freshman, showcased his scoring ability and playmaking skills, making him a pivotal player in Duke’s march toward another championship title.

“Cooper really stepped up today,” Duke head coach Jon Scheyer said after the game. “His composure in critical moments was impressive, and he led the team both on and off the court. His ability to create his own shot made a difference in the outcome of the game.”

Duke’s win was fueled by a strong first half, where they held a 10-point lead going into halftime. Arizona rallied in the second half, pulling within three points, but Flagg’s late-game heroics sealed the victory for the Blue Devils.

Arizona played a hard-fought game and was led by guard Aidan Shaw, who contributed 23 points and 7 rebounds. Shaw noted the challenges in defending Flagg. “We had our strategies, but he was on fire today. He made tough shots and kept us on our heels,” Shaw said.

The victory propels Duke to the Elite Eight, where they will face the winner of the Kentucky vs. Tennessee match. With their offense clicking and their defense tightening, Duke will look to continue its winning streak.

Duke’s success in this early playoff stage boosts their aspirations for another NCAA championship as they displayed both resilience and skill against remaining challengers.
