Cooper Flagg Shines as 2025 Final Four Approaches NBA Draft Buzz

NEW YORK, March 31, 2025 — As the NCAA tournament reaches its climax, Cooper Flagg has emerged as a standout, driving his team to the Final Four and significantly boosting his draft stock.
Flagg, a forward from Duke, recorded impressive performances, highlighted by a 30-point, seven-assist, and three-block game against Arizona, showcasing his ability to impact every possession. His off-the-dribble shot-making and three-point shooting, with a 49 three-point shot conversion rate at 37.4%, have made him a consensus favorite to be the top pick in the upcoming NBA draft.
“The preseason hype surrounding Flagg was immense, and so far he has exceeded those expectations,” said Jonathan Wasserman, a draft analyst for Bleacher Report. “His skills seem to improve every game, and he has shown a unique ability to take games into his own hands.”
With the Final Four looming, Flagg will face a challenging matchup against a formidable Houston defense that recently limited Tennessee to just 50 points. Houston’s own star, who is gaining attention for his scoring and playmaking abilities, is expected to provide a significant test for Flagg and the Duke squad.
Other prospects rising through the ranks amidst the tournament excitement include Dylan Harper from Rutgers, who has solidified his position as the leading guard option. Despite Rutgers’ elimination, Harper’s 27-point game against USC showcased his scoring potential, making him an appealing option for teams in need of a ball-handler.
“The gap between Harper and other guards in the draft has widened,” Wasserman stated. “His ability to create scoring opportunities and defend well will attract many NBA teams.” Teams like the Washington Wizards and the Brooklyn Nets are likely to show increased interest in Harper, who averages a stellar 3.9 assists per game.
Florida‘s trio of prospects, including VJ Edgecombe, Johni Broome, and Tahaad Pettiford, have also caught the eye of scouts. Edgecombe’s explosive plays and impressive shooting have positioned him favorably in the eyes of NBA front offices.
Rutgers standout Dylan Harper also declared for the draft following an impressive season. “I feel confident to take the next step, and with my performance against USC, I believe I’ve proven my readiness for the NBA,” Harper said.
As the tournament progresses, several other players are making their marks. Duke’s Kon Knueppel and Michigan State’s Jase Richardson have shown off their scoring efficiency and playmaking abilities, making them valuable draft prospects.
With the NBA draft approaching, scouts are keenly monitoring the performances of all these young athletes as they make crucial decisions about their futures. Each game in this high-stakes tournament is pivotal not just for the teams involved, but also for the aspirations of many future NBA stars.
