Corbin Carroll Baseball Performance

Phoenix, Arizona — Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks is making history this season by matching a remarkable achievement of baseball legend Willie Mays. On Tuesday night, Carroll tripled twice in a game against the Seattle Mariners, becoming the first player since Mays to record four games with multiple home runs and two games with multiple triples in a single season.

The 24-year-old outfielder’s performance puts him in elite company. Mays accomplished the feat in 1955 while playing for the New York Giants at the age of 24, the same age Carroll is now. That season, Mays recorded a .319 batting average, .659 slugging percentage, along with 18 doubles, 13 triples, and 51 home runs.

Carroll’s current statistics are impressive as well. He is batting .260 this season with 12 doubles, eight triples, 19 home runs, 43 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases. His slugging percentage is .581, and he leads Major League Baseball with eight triples.

During Tuesday’s game, Carroll gave the Diamondbacks a 1-0 lead in the third inning with a line drive that turned into a triple. He added another RBI triple in the sixth inning, which helped expand the Diamondbacks’ lead to 10-3 by the end of the game.

Carroll has quickly drawn comparisons to Mays not only due to his performance but also because of their dimensions; both players stand at 5 feet 10 inches. Despite their smaller stature, both exhibit remarkable power and speed, proving that size isn’t everything in baseball.

As of now, Carroll has 34 triples since making his MLB debut in 2022, tying him for the fifth-most in Diamondbacks franchise history. With a contract that extends through at least 2030, Carroll is on track to climb higher on that list as he continues to excel.

The Diamondbacks have a chance to sweep the Mariners in their series, with the final game set for Wednesday at 3:40 p.m. ET. Baseball fans are eager to see how Carroll’s season unfolds and whether he can surpass Mays’ legendary records as the season progresses.
