Corey Ross Shines As Roosters Dominate Rabbitohs In Pre Season Challenge

In a stunning pre-season challenge clash, the Roosters showcased their young talent in a dominating 46-10 victory over their rivals, the Rabbitohs. With NRL stars away in America preparing for the Las Vegas double-header, the Roosters’ freshest faces shone bright at Belmore Oval.

Matt French and Leon Te Hau managed to secure the only two tries for the Rabbitohs on a forgettable night for the team. Meanwhile, the Roosters, under the guidance of coach Brett Morris, displayed their prowess by scoring an impressive nine tries despite the rainy conditions.

The match’s highlight moments included tries from Meli Nasau, Turoa Williams, Corey Ross, Salesi Foketi, Kyron Fekitoa, Callum Gromek, Michael Coleman, and Emery Jolliffe, each showcasing their distinct skills and contributions.

One player who stood out was Braidon Burns, a seasoned player making waves in the South Sydney backline. Burns, aiming for a comeback after time with Canterbury, showcased his potential with a try assist and over 100 metres gained on the field.

Amidst well-known Roosters stars like Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Lindsay Collins, a new name emerged in Corey Ross. The backrower, with an impactful performance and a try to his name, caught the attention of legends like Greg Alexander and Braith Anasta for his fearless display.

Additionally, Callum Gromek, recruited from the Wollongong competition, displayed his prowess with a double try and impressive stats, hinting at a bright future with the team.

While the pre-season challenge provided a platform for emerging talents, questions arise around the competition’s format given the absence of key players in such high-stakes games. The NRL may need to revisit the structure in future editions to uphold competition integrity.
